Injury Setback For Big Justy

The return to action on Wednesday night of Joe and Justin Mc Mahon was met with universal approval and relief. The game itself certainly did not go to plan for the Omagh St. Enda’s pair as their team suffered a sixteen point defeat at the hands of high flying Carrickmore but the sight of the Mc Mahon brothers playing their first competitive club match together in months was great news for all followers of Tyrone GAA.

However as the furore about their return died down and the dust settled came the news that Justin Mc Mahon, contrary to initial reports, had not come through the game unscathed. The All Ireland winning full back had spent quite a bit of time during the game stretching and appeared to be having some difficulty with his hamstring. Latest news from within the Omagh club would appear to suggest he has in fact suffered a slight re-occurrence of the hamstring problems that plagued him last year. The full extent of the injury is still unclear but Justin, along with county panellist Jason Mc Anulla, will certainly miss his club’s game with Greencastle on Sunday. With county manager Mickey Harte hoping his injured players could get some much needed game time the big Omagh man must now be considered a major injury worry for Tyrone in their Ulster Senior semi final which is pencilled in for the 26th of June.
