JFC | Clogher Fight Back to Secure First Round Spot

Clogher Eire Og booked their place in the opening round of the 2015 Donnelly Vauxhall Tyrone Junior Football Championship on Friday night after they fought back from three points down to beat Owen Roes by a single point. Clogher led the game at the brea 0-8 to 0-5 thanks to first half points from Ciaran Shields, Conor Shields, Emmett McConnell and Paul Tierney. Owen Roes did open the scoring through Seamus Dooher, while Stephen Harper, Andy Devine and Cathal McShane also finished the half with points.
After the break Owen Roes added points through Ronan Parker and Andy Devine before a 45th minute goal from Seamus Dooher put them into the lead. Clogher fought back with points from Conor Shields and Marc McConnell before Paul Tierney ran through the heart of the Owen Roes defence to fire a pile driver to the top right hand corner of the net to win the game with just five minutes left on the clock. Owen Roes will rue the eight second half wides they kicked while Clogher made the most of their chances with just four. Final Score – Clogher 1-10 Owen Roes 1-9
