Junior B Ladies Championship Victory For Castlederg Over Pomeroy.

There was a bright opening to the game with some great football played by both teams. With ten minutes gone the score was all square 0-3 each, Shannon Lynch , Louise Coyle and Laura Mc Sorley getting the first 3 scores for the Derg. Castlederg hit something of a purple patch to land a goal and a point within the space of two minutes to edge ahead by four. The point came from the boot of Leah Lynch and the goal from the very impressive Shannon Lynch. Pomeroy to their credit added 2 more points and battled for every ball but The Derg finished the first half the stronger with a Louise Coyle free and a well taken goal from Laura Mc Sorley to leave the score at half time Mna na Deirge 2-5 Pomeroy 0-5.
The Derg started the second half on fire and 2 goals and a point from the excellent Laura Mc Sorley put them in complete control. Pomeroy closed the gap slightly with 2 points but up stepped Laura Mc Sorley again to score a further goal and 2 points to put her side in the comfort zone. Grace Quinn added another point for the Derg to leave the score 5 – 9 to 0 – 7 as the game headed toward its inevitable conclusion but in the dying seconds of the game Pomeroy converted a penalty to leave the final score Mna Na Deirge 5 – 9 Pomeroy 0 – 7
This was probably the best team performance the Derg ladies had produced all year and they ran out worthy winners.
