Derrylaughan 8-6 Eskra 4-6

Derrylaughan completed the grade 4 U14 double after this championship success over Eskra at Aghaloo on Saturday morning. The Kevin Barrys were worthy winners although you have to spare a thought for a gallant Eskra side who went toe to toe with their opponents over three games, the recent league final between the both having gone to a replay.

The game got off to an explosive start with Adam Cushnahan and Rory Kinsella both finding the net for their respective sides inside the first minute. Andre Gervin then added another major for the Loughshore lads but Eskra hit back to take the lead thanks to an Eoin McEvoy goal and points from Kinsella and Lorcan Meegan. Two quick Derrylaughan goals from Cushnahan and Caoimhin Hughes saw the lead change hands again before a Kinsella penalty left it 4-3 to 3-4 at the break.

Derrylaughan were out of the traps quickly for the second half and two Cushnahan goals inside five minutes gave them a vice lie grip on proceedings. McEvoy responded with his second goal but Derrylaughan were on top and they raised further green flags from Odhran Gordon and Lorcan Canavan. Matthew McKenna hit a brace of points for the Emmetts but it was Derrylaughan’s day as they completed the double.

Derrylaughan scorers – Adam Cushnahan 4-1, Andre Gervin 1-2, Caoimhin Hughes 1-2, Odhran Gordon 1-0, Lorcan Canavan 1-0, Barry McErlean 0-1

Eskra scorers – Rory Kinsella 2-3, Eoin McEvoy 2-0, Matthew McKenna 0-2, Lorcan Meegan 0-1
