Twenty four hours after watching their first team reach the Intermediate championship final Kildress reserves followed suit when they overcame Augher in the semi final at Galbally on Monday evening. The Wolfe Tones dominated early on to establish a 0-7 to 0-1 lead with points coming from Ciaran Corey, Sean Beggs, Darragh McKenna and Mickey Treacy but Augher hit back to only trail by three at the break thanks to scores from Barry McKenna, Francis McMeel and Fergal Askin. In the opening attack of the second half Eoin Brannigan increased Kildress’s lead but moments later a fisted goal from full forward Colm Sherry left just the minimum between the sides. That was as good as it got for the St.Macartans though as points from Mickey Gillespie, Johnny McKenna and Brannigan saw Kildress into the final on a 0-15 to 1-7 score line. They will face either Galbally or Gortin in the decider, that second semi final taking place at Greencastle on Tuesday evening.
