Kildress Wolfe Tones and Beragh Red Knights served up an entertaining hour’s football in the Grade Three Minor Championship final at Killyclogher on Monday night before the Gortacladdy lads emerged victorious on a score line of 3-14 to 2-10.

Beragh played their best football in the first half and reached the break leading by two on a score of 0-7 to 0-5. Points from Tiernan Mc Caffrey, Conor Martin, Finn Grimes and Johnny Owens put the Red Knights in a strong position at the short whistle. Shane Mallon, Paul Connolly, Shea Quinn, Shea Loughran and Ben Donnelly accounted for the Kildress first half points.

As we have seen so often in games this year the fifteen minutes after the break proved decisive as Kildress came from three points down early in the second half to hit 3-5 without reply and effectively secure the title. Shea Quinn bagged 2-2 for the Tones in that period while Pauric Loughran also found the net.

Conor Martin landed a goal for Beragh to get them back in the game with fourteen minutes remaining. The Red Knights needed a second goal but it didn’t arrive until the closing minutes courtesy of Oran Treacy. Kildress proved their worth however with three of the last four points to deservedly lift the title.

Scorers: Kildress,  Shane Mallon (0-1) Paul Connolly ( 0-2) Shea Quinn (2-6) Pauric Lagan (1-0) Ben Donnelly (0-1) Ruairi Loughran (0-2) Shea Loughran (0-2)

Beragh Tiernan Mc Caffrey (0-3) Conor Martin (1-3)  Finn Grimes (0-1) Johnny Owens (0-2) Oran Treacy (1-1)
