Carrickmore Come From Behind To Claim Place In Semi finals

Killeeshil may have gone into this game as under dogs against last year’s beaten finalists but they began well and led at the break 2-4 to 1-4. A converted penalty in the opening five minutes gave them a great boost in confidence as they opened up a 2-4 to 0-4 lead. However Carrickmore have responded well and by half time had closed the gap to just three points. Indeed early in the second half Carrickmore hit their fifth point of the contest to trail by two with seven minutes of the second thirty played.
Twelve minutes into the half and Killeeshil have responded well to the challenge of Carrickmore. They now lead 2-6 to 1-6 but there is a break in play due an injury.
Seventeen minutes gone and the gap is once again two points. Killeeshil 2-6, Carrickmore 1-7.
Carrickmore’s experience continues to show through and with almost twenty minutes of the second half played they are now lead for the first time by a point 1-10 to 2-6.
The final whistle blows and the game is all square Carrickmore 1-10, Killeeshil 2-7, Carrickmore finished the half with fourteen players. We will now move into extra time.
Extra time just under way and Carrickmore move four points ahead with a quick fire goal from Dearbhla Mc Callen and a point before Killeeshil even had time to realise the game was back on. 2-11 to 2-7 for last year’s beaten finalists.
Veteran Eilis Gormley hits a free direct to the net and now look home and hosed as they lead 3-13 to 2-7. Killeeshil just have not got started this half and find themselves nine behind as the half time whistle sounds.
Carrickmore add another two points and move eleven points ahead 3-15 to 2-7 and barring a miraculous turn around by Killeeshil Carrickmore look set for a place in the semi final.
