If anyone ever doubted the health of football in Tyrone then they needed to be in Clogher last night where Killeeshil came from six points down to beat Dromore in the final of the O’Neill’s backed Grade 1 U14 league.  A Jason Doyle goal in the first minute of injury time helped to secure Killeeshil’s second trophy this season.  They’ve already bagged the Feile title and will go for an unprecedented treble in next week’s championship final.

This game had everything.  The Killeeshil lads led at half time 0-12 to 2-4 thanks to points from Cormac Donaghy, Tomas Hoy and Niall Loughran.   Dromore were 0-8 to 0-0 down before they registered their first point however points from Ross Slevin and a goal from the same player kept Dromore in touch.  A second Dromore goal from corner forward Liam McArdle reduced the deficit even further and brought the Dromore side to within two points at the break.  Killeeshil also missed a penalty during that period.

The scoring after the break didn’t let up and following further points from Ross Slevin  Dromore were awarded a penalty of their own.  That spot kick was coolly converted by their midfielder Pearse McNabb.   A short time later Dromore had a second penalty.  Same result from the kick as McNabb slid the ball under the Killeeshil goalkeeper.

Killeeshil had their back to the wall at this point but further points from Tomas Hoy, Jason Doyle and Cormac Donaghy dragged them back into the game to set up a nail biting finally.  Even a fifth Dromore goal didn’t dampen Killeeshil spirits and it was left to Jason Doyle to fire home a late goal for the St Mary’s side to win the game.  It was an incredible game played by two excellent teams.  Final Score – Killeeshil 2-17 Dromore 5-7
