Killeeshil 2-12 Rock 0-6

A power packed first half display saw Killeeshil win the grade four league title to complete the double when for the second week running they got the better of Rock in the decider. This was the second game in the double bill at Derrylaughan on Saturday afternoon and the result was never in doubt. Midfielder Daire Martin converted two early frees off the ground for the winners before Diarmuid Carroll opened Rock’s account with a well taken point.

In the 13th minute Eoghan Donaghy struck for a well taken goal and after Daire Hamill and Martin had added points Donaghy scored a second major to enable his side to lead 2-8 to 0-2 at halftime. Carroll opened the second half scoring for Rock but Martin responded with a Killeeshil brace. Kevin Mallon had a Rock point but they were unable to close the gap and they had defender Padraig O’Neill sent off for a straight red card offence five minutes from time. Right at the end Killeeshil centre half back Ruairi O’Neill was sent off for a second yellow card offence but by that stage the silverware was already safely in the bag.

Killeeshil scorers – Daire Martin 0-9, Eoghan Donaghy 2-2, Daire Hamill 0-1

Rock scorers – Diarmuid Carroll 0-5, Kevin Mallon 0-1

Referee – Sean Heagney, Kildress
