The 2017 Donnelly Vauxhall Tyrone Junior Football Championship rolled into action on Friday night with Killeeshil emerging with a first championship win in three years. The sides went in level at the break 0-7 apiece with Pascal Donaghy (Killeeshil) and Mickey Donnelly (Killyman) both recording 0-3 during that period.

Killyman started the brightest and led 0-2 to no score inside the opening two minutes thanks to points from Ryan McKenna and Enda McGahan. Killeeshil however were two points to the good by the 13th minute as they struck back with scores from Pascal Donaghy, Packie McMullan and Ciaran O’Neill.

Killyman hit the next scores as Mickey Donnelly, Ryan McKenna and Brian Og O’Rourke recorded points before Pascal Donaghy and Ruairi O’Neill levelled matters in first half injury time. The last two points of the opening half came from Mickey Donnelly and Enda Hamill.

It took eight minutes to record the first point in the second half as Killeeshil moved into the driving seat thanks to two frees from Pascal Donaghy. By the 42nd minute however the sides were level again at 0-9 each as Donnelly and Owen O’Rourke found their range.

The final quarter afforded Killeeshil the opportunity to move three points ahead with Conor Small, Packie McMullan and Pascal Donaghy all hitting points. First Enda McGahan buried a penalty in the 56th and Mickey Donnelly moved Killyman a point ahead with a free with two minutes to go.
