Killyclogher are back in their first senior championship final since 2003 when they held off a spirited Dromore comeback to win an epic encounter at Healy Park on Friday night, 0-13 to 0-12 the final scoreline.

Killyclogher had established a 0-3 to 0-1 lead thanks to points from Mark Bradley and the McCann brothers Conall and Tiernan before Dromore were dealt a blow in the 10th minute when they lost midfielder Barry Collins to a second yellow card. Emmett O’Neill and Eoin McCusker had points for the St.Dympnas but it was Killyclogher who assumed control. Bradley, Leo Meenan, James Carlin, Gary Wallace and Dermot Carlin all weighed in with points as they led 0-10 to 0-4 at the break, Dromore down to thirteen men after Colm McCullagh was straight red carded four minutes after coming on.

Full back Cathal McCarron opened the second half scoring before Dromore were awarded a 4th minute penalty after Niall Sludden was followed but Sean Fox saved McCusker’s spot kick. At the other end of the field Peter Ward kept his side in the game with a wonderful save to deny Bradley. Killyclogher then lost Dermot Carlin to a second yellow as Dromore mounted a superb comeback. McCusker and Sean McDonnell had points before Declan Leonard opened Killyclogher’s second half account in the 16th minute.

Killyclogher sat back content to try and defend their lead and that only invited Dromore onto them. Ciaran McCoy and McCusker had points and with six minutes to go only two separated the sides.  Conall McCann slotted over a 45 before Killyclogher were reduced to thirteen men two minutes from time when Eoin Bradley collected a second booking. McCusker blasted over from play to take his personal haul to half a dozen and reduce the deficit to the minimum in the process. With the last kick of the game Sean O’Neill  was narrowly wide with an effort for an equaliser as Killyclogher just about held on.
