Killyclogher 2-13 Donaghmore 1-13

Killyclogher produced a storming finish at Carrickmore on Saturday afternoon to come from behind to get the better off Donaghmore in a superb LCC senior championship first round tie.

It was honours even at the end of a free flowing first half, 1-6 to 0-9. Donaghmore were quick out of the blocks with points from Niall McKenna and Dan Toner before Matthew Murnaghan opened Killyclogher’s account in the 4thminute. Aidan McCluskey and Mark Bradley traded points as did Peter McKenna and Nathan Donnelly before efforts from centre half back Shea Hamill and Peter McKenna left Donaghmore ahead by double scores, 0-6 to 0-3.

Bradley nailed a forty-metre free for Killyclogher but Donaghmore replied in the next attack with a quality effort from Philip Donnelly. In the 21stminute though it was level when Jordan Barton and Mark Bradley combined for Simon O’Neill to fire to the net past keeper Lorcan Quinn. Brannon Molloy edged Donaghmore back in front but Simon O’Neill levelled matters before Nathan O’Neill put Killyclogher in front. Donaghmore though had the final say of the opening half with a well struck 45 from keeper Quinn to leave it all to play for in the second period.

Five minutes into the second half Donaghmore grabbed the score of the game when centre half back Shea Hamill beat a number of players on his way through before calmly slotting the ball low past Killyclogher keeper Oran Grimes. Jordan Barton had a Killyclogher point before Niall McKenna was thwarted twice at the end of the third quarter with goal attempts. Cormac McCann and Martin Swift had points for their respective sides before Killyclogher turned things around.

Cormac McGettigan, Nathan Donnelly and Tiernan McCann all had points before Donnelly got a crucial goal in the last minute of normal time. Bradley then put Killyclogher five clear and while Deasun Quinn blasted over two late frees it was Killyclogher who advanced to a last eight meeting with either Coalisland or Ardboe.
