Friday night’s Junior double header at Greencastle drew a huge attendance and produced two compelling games of championship football. In the opening game Killyman had to cope with a late Drumragh resurgence before winning 1-12 to 0-12. Corner forward Mickey Donnelly top scored for the St Mary’s with 0-6 while Enda Mc Gahan with 0-3 also made a vital contribution to the cause. Drumragh battled hard throughout and will look back on several missed chances late in the game with regret. Their full forward line of Murphy, Maguire and Cleary showed lots of promise and endeavour but their profligacy in the second half cost them in the end.

The second fixture saw Dregish and Glenelly do battle in what was a low scoring but entertaining game.  Both teams defences were on top in the opening period but there was little either set of backs could do to stop two fine first half goals. Dregish found the net on fourteen minutes when they put a fine team move together before a neat ball from Aidan O’Kane set Mark Catterson on his way and the blond attacker finished with aplomb. However Glenelly responded immediately and full forward Ciaran Kearney sent an unstoppable shot to  the net less than a minute after the Dregish major. That goal helped Glenelly reach the break two points in front 1-4 to 1-2

The second half also saw little between the teams and as the game wore on the challenges became more and more intense. Cookstown match official Mark O’Neill was forced to produce a couple of black cards and a double yellow . Dregish captain Aidan O’Kane put his side into a strong position with five minutes left as his second point inside a minute left two between the teams. However big Seamus Harkin showed all his quality with two huge scores to earn Glenelly a deserved replay on a final score of 1-8 apiece.
