Clonoe Senior Ladies travelled to Carrickmore to take on Cappagh in the Quarter Final of the Championship. In what was a very exciting and open game of football, it was Cappagh who progressed to the Semi Finals, with two early goals in the second half proving crucial.

From the throw in, Cappagh got an early lead with a goal from Teri Mc Cusker after thirty five seconds seconds. Despite this early lead, Clonoe went up the field and scored 2-03 with goals from Captain Eimhear Cushnahan and Orlaith O’Hagan to go six in front. It was Cappagh’s turn to have their purple patch where they scored five points on the trot with Mc Cusker once more on target.

Clonoe responded with points from Gavin (2) and O’Hagan before Cappagh added another point and a goal from Porter. This brought the game level before Sinéad Hanna slotted over a well taken point to send Clonoe off at half time, a point ahead.

Half time score:  Clonoe 2-07, Cappagh 2-06

At the start of the second half, it was Cappagh who got going first scoring 1-01 with Kate Mc Aleer hitting the net before O’Hagan and Gavin responded for Clonoe. Despite bringing the game back to a point, it was Cappagh who continued to push on scoring 1-03 to go 7 in front. The goal came after good work from Mc Cusker and a clever finish from Beth Corcoran.Points from Mc Cusker, Mc Aleer, Kerry Quinn and an outstanding effort after great work by Laura Corcoran were enough to keep clear daylight between the teams.

Clonoe rallied again with three points from Orlagh Gavin and were unlucky with further  efforts coming off the post but Cappagh held on to take their place in the last four of the competition.

Final Score: Clonoe 2-12, Cappagh 4-11
