There were two games in the Ladies championship this evening as Kildress and Cappagh enjoyed wins over Drumragh and Sperrin Og. The Cappagh and Sperrin Og was only decided after extra time.
There was little between Kildress and Drumragh in the first half of their game as the Wolfe Tones girls led 1-8 to 1-4 at the short whistle. However with Neamh woods in imperious form at the start of the second half Drumragh were right back in it as she scored 1-1 inside the opening four minutes. However that was as good as it got for Drumragh as Kildress went on to win by seven points in the end on a score line of 4-12 to 3-8.
Kildress scorers: Sarah Lennon 1-1, Mairead Rafferty 0-1, Niamh Conway 0-5, Alicia Mc Nally 0-1, Angela Conway 0-2, Rachel Mc Kenna 1-1, Caoimhe Mc Gurk 1-1.
Drumragh Scorers: Catherine Mc Crory 2-3, Neamh Woods 1-2, Niamh Mc Laughlin 0-3.
Cappagh and Sperrin Og served up an entertaining Intermediate quarter final tie at Loughmacrory tonight before extra time eventually determined a winner. Cappagh led by three at the end of a low scoring first half 1-03 to 0-03 with their goal coming from a Clodagh Poyntz penalty in the seventeenth minute after Aisling Porter had been fouled.
A Shauneen Ferrity goal and a series of points from Niamh O’Neill ensured that the Sperrin Og reached the final whistle on level terms 1-9 apiece.
Aisling Porter showed her worth to her side as she hit four points early in extra time to put Cappagh in control. Unfortunately for Sperrin Og there was to be no comeback this time and all they could muster was one point in extra time as Cappagh went on to win 1-15 to 1-10.
Cappagh Scorers: Teri Mc Cusker 0-5, Clodagh Poyntz 1-3, Aisling Porter 0-5, Emma Mc Aleer 0-1, Donna Donnelly 0-1.
Sperrin Og Scorers: Niamh O’Neill 0-8, Shauneen Ferrity 1-0, Ciara Fox 0-2.
