Ladies Come Up Short Against Laois

Tyrone Ladies came up short this evening in a real ding dong battle with Laois in their All Ireland quarter final losing out 1-17 to 2-12 after extra time. Tyrone had dominated the opening half but faded badly following the second half sin binning of Eimear Teague when Laois really came back into the game. Laois powered on to move ahead and with time almost up Tyrone salvaged a draw when sub, veteran Eilish Gormley pointed with her first touch.

There was little between these two very evenly matched sides during extra time but a missed penalty from Tyrone’s star forward Gemma Begley let Laois off the hook as they held on to win by two points in the end and qualify for the semi finals. Full credit to the Tyrone girls and their mentors for what was a really gutsy display against a very powerful and hugely physical Laois side but their dreams of a second All Ireland Final appearance are no more.
