Ladies League Titles Decided

The Ladies senior and intermediate league titles were decided at the weekend when Macartans defeated Errigal on Saturday and Trillick completed the Intermediate double with a comprehensive win over Dromore on Sunday.

Macartans showed all their experience and guile to see off the challenge of Errigal who had opened the scoring through Maria Canavan. Chloe Mc Caffrey clipped over Macs first point before adding a second shortly after.

Maria Canavan converted her team’s second free before Mc Caffrey added a brace of scores. Niamh McGirr then got on the scoreboard with a point before Joline Donaghy added to her team’s tally. Errigal came back with a goal from Shannon Cunningham and another point from Canavan to send the teams off at the break  level 0-6 to 1-3.

Tara O Hagan opened the scoring for the winners in the second half before Chloe Mc Caffrey landed another free. Macartans then won a penalty after Paula Donnelly was pulled to the ground. Chloe Mc Caffrey fired the kick to the net and from there to the end Macartans dominated adding points from play through Paula Donnelly (2), Joline Donaghy and Chloe Mc Caffrey.

Final score. Macartans 1-12, Errigal 1-3

Trillick made it an intermediate league and championship double on Sunday seeing off their neighbours and rivals Dromore. The Reds began well and with a goal apiece from Shauna Mc Gurren and Emma Brennan they reached the water break leading 2.5 to 0.2 before adding four further points in the lead up to half time.

Trillick continued to dominate after the restart with further goals from Mc Gurren, Fiona Owens, Cathleen Kelly and Mya Williamson to leave the final score 6-14 to 0-5 in their favour. Special mention to Ciara Brogan who was outstanding at wing half back for the winners.
