Ladies League Wrap Up In Association With Murphy’s Gloves

Aghyaran took on Moy in their league fixture on Sunday and after a very entertaining and close game shared the points on a final score of Aghyaran 5-11 Moy 3-17 after Moy led at the break 2-9 to 1-5. This was a high scoring game and very much a game of two halves . Half time came with Moy up by seven points going in 2-9 to 1-5 but the second half was much more competitive with Sasha Byrne finding the net on three occasions in a short space of time. Moy replied with a goal push and for any neutral watching this was a game well worth seeing. Both sides produced some great scores as the game ended level with Moy getting the last score of the match to snatch a draw.

Local rivals Cappagh and Omagh met on Sunday evening with Cappagh winning an underwhelming game. With a minor final coming up on Thursday night it was an understrength Omagh side that took to the field. Cappagh had fine displays from Teri Mc Cusker, Nena Armstrong, Caitlin Kelly, Grainne Mc Cann, Laura Corcoran and Kirsty Edgar on their way to a comfortable win.
Killeeshil ladies rounded off a good weekend for the club with a comprehensive win over Sperrin Óg. The hoops made a whirlwind start to the Sunday evening fixture away to Sperrin Óg with 3 early goals courtesy of 2 superb efforts from Zoe Loughran and a well taken Claire Hegarty finish.
A Louise Kelly goal following great interplay helped Killeeshil to a 4-04 to 1-04 lead at the break with the Sperrin Óg goal coming from Leah Mc Guigan.
Killeeshil continued to dominate after the break with a number of fine points scored from the boot of Cara McCoubrey and Laura Canning. In between resolute defending from Michelle Grugan, Emma Mulgrew and Alanah Donnelly helped keep Sperrin Óg at bay. Caitlin Campell continued to drive forward from midfield laying the platform for Aine McRory who finished off the scoring with 2 goals to seal the win on a final score of Sperrin og 1-07 Killeeshil 6-13. On a disappointing night for the hosts Orla Coyle, Orla Warnock and Caislin Tracey stood out.
Errigal Ciaran made it six wins from six starts at the weekend with a 2-9 to 0-7 win over Moortown. It was a busy weekend for for Errigal ace Shannon Cunningham who finished with 1-3 having been part of management of the Pomeroy minor side in the championship final on Saturday evening. Maria Canavan bagged four of her team’s points while Mary Traynor also hit the net for the winners.
Macartans continued on their winning ways with victory over an under strength Carrickmore side. Slaine Mc Carroll got the all important first half goal for the Macs while Joline and Cathy Donnelly contributed points for the winners.
