The adult league action began in Tyrone at the weekend with some entertaining action across all the divisions. The game of the night in the senior league produced plenty of drama and excitement at Carrickmore as well as a stunning scoring performance from Gemma Begley as her Carrickmore side edged out St Macartans 2-11 to 2-9.

It was level at the break and close throughout with scores a plenty, County star Begley hitting 2-9 of her team’s tally, McCallan with the remaining two points. Cathy Donnelly top scored for the county champions with 1-5 on a night when “Carmen” avenged that championship loss. A great opening to the senior league campaign,

Free scoring Aodh Ruadh hit 6-13 as they accounted for Glenelly while St Dympna’s signalled their senior intentions this term with a resounding 3-12 to 1-7 win over Errigal. Joanne and Tina Donnelly dominated midfield from the start while the McNabb sisters Shauna and Catherine hit 0-8 between them. Helen McCusker and Grainne Mc Rory also played well for Dromore with Ciara Mc Mahon hitting 2-0.

Cill Iseal also got off the mark with a big win over Ardboe.

Newly promoted Omagh found the going tough against Trillick in their clash in the Intermediate league at Donnelly Park. The St Enda’s enjoyed the best of the first half but stopped their running game that had been so effective in the first period and the home side took control to claim a 2-13 to 0-11 win.

Fr Rocks secured a six point win on the opening weekend over Clann Na Gael while Beragh were big winners over Moy as Cappagh picked up the points with Agyharan failing to field.

The Junior grade will be tight to call this term but already four teams look to have what it takes. Loughmacrory, Sperrin Og, Drumragh and Donaghmore all found the scoring touch to record wins.

Niamh McLaughlin hit 2-5 for the Sarsfields as they beat Badoney 3-10 to 1-2, impressive for the winners were Amy Cox and Rachal Cleary.

Sperrin Og turned in a good shift to eclipse Kildress on Sunday but didn’t have it all their own way. Goalkeeper Peggy Myles pulling off two great saves at a crucial time in the tie. Shaueen Ferrity and Eimear Teague were good in midfield while Laura Lee Mc Cullagh and Bronagh Warnock were good up front.

Sigersons put it up to an experienced Loughmacrory but goals were their downfall as the Lough girls hit five while Donaghmore sealed a win over battling Fintona.

Stewartstown edged a narrow three point win over Eogahin Rua while Pomeroy’s goalscoring was impressive as they hit seven past Rock  with Edendork just a goal shy of seven in their defeat of Urney.

The Tyrone Feile goes ahead this weekend with action at several venues in the county while  the Minor football championship quarter finals are fixed for next Monday.
