Ladies Suffer Defeat In Qualifiers
Sunday 12.06.2022

Laois 3-14
Tyrone 3-6
Laois outscored Tyrone 2-5 to 1-1 in a clinical second half performance as they won by eight points at O’Moore Park although both have quarter final dates to look forward to now. Tyrone manager Sean O’Kane will seek improvement against Wexford next time out.
Laois dominated this game from the off but Tyrone did have their moments. Slaine Mc Carroll carried the ball well, Emma Brennan, Niamh Hughes and Sasha Byrne produced some positive moments but they did struggle with their kick outs and the ability of Emma Lawlor, Mo Nurney and Erone Fiztpatrick to cut through the visitors defence will be a concern.
Tyrone trailed by one point at the break after goals from Emma Brennan and Niamh Hughes had drawn Tyrone level having found themselves seven points down in the opening quarter. Brennan, a well marked Chloe Mc Caffrey and Aoibhinn Mc Hugh hit first half points for Tyrone. Sarah Ann Fitzgerald hitting 1-1 and points from Lawlor, Nurney and Havill keeping Laois ahead.
Byrne scored an early second half goal for Tyrone but their challenge wilted and failed following a lacklustre display as Laois eased to top spot with goals from Fitzpatrick and Havill.
