Aghyaran 5-15 v Cill Iseal 3-8

Weather conditions were poor for Wednesday evening’s fixture but these two teams produced a high quality entertaining game of football. The first half saw the Aghyaran girls have the majority of play to leave the score at half time 3-10 to 1-3 but Cill Iseal came more into the game in a lively second period that saw both teams score 2-5 apiece.  Scorers Aghyaran; Aimee Coyle 3-4, Sasha Byrne 0-7, Aoibhanin McHugh 0-2pts, Collen & Aoife Byrne 1-0 apiece, Tara McHugh & Erin Goan 0-1 each.

 

After a long break of two and a half weeks, Sperrin Og played host to St. Dympnas Dromore under very wet conditions. St Dympnas opened the scoring with a couple of points leaving Sperrin Og having to play catch-up for most of the first half. The majority of the Sperrin Og scores came from captain Niamh ONeill and Claire Tuohey, although the closing stages of the first half saw both Michaela Gillen and Eadaoin Fox finding the back of the net, leaving a scoreline at half time of 2-07 to 0-6.
The second half saw Sperrin Og dominate under worsening weather conditions, with Claire Tuohey getting a hat-trick as well as Teagan McDermott, Michaela Gillen, Rachel McAleer and Eadaoin Fox all getting a goal each. Sperrin Og dominated the second half throughout the field with excellent performances from Caoileann Conway and Orla Coyle, as well as goalkeeper Chloe Donnelly who pulled off a few excellent saves which allowed the hosts to finish the game off at 9-14 to 1-09.

 

U14 grade 1 Mna Na Deirge : 12-08 v Errigal Ciaran 3-04

The u14 ladies of Mna Na Deirge got their u14 grade 1 season off to a great start running out very convincing winners against Errigal Ciaran. Mna Na Deirge proved superior in every department with Errigal Ciaran finding it hard to get to grips with a strong and skilful Mna Na Deirge team who gave an exhibition on how to create and take scores. The defence was outstanding from goal keeper out, in midfield Roisin Harper and Maria Mc Laughlin were in fine form. The high scoring return of the Mna Na Deirge forward line speaks for itself.
