Tyrone 4-11 Donegal 3-5

Tyrone Ladies U14s kept their Ulster Championship ambitions intact with a good win over Donegal in Carrickmore on Saturday.

Tyrone were a little slow getting out of the blocks in this game falling behind by 2 points to no score after 10 minutes. However, after they got on the scoresheet with a point from Caitlin Kelly in the 12th minute and an excellent goal fron Roisin Devlin they stayed in the lead for the remainder of the game. Donegal were restricted to one more score while a goal from Bronagh McKenna and points from Caitlin Kelly and Tara Donaghy saw Tyrone go in at half-time leading by 2-3 to 3 points.

There was no repeat of Tyrone’s slow start in the second period as Roisin Devlin scored a goal and a point to increase the lead to 10 pts, This was followed by further scores from Caitlin Kelly and Chloe McCafferty. Tyrone perhaps rested on their huge lead at this time, but Donegal teams managed by Dermot Foy never give up and a goal from a penalty reduced Tyrone’s lead to 9 and when they scored another goal from play it was certainly game on with fifteen minutes to go. A goal and point from Caitlin Kelly steadied the Tyrone ship and while Donegal went in search of goals Tyrone defended robustly and finished out the game with a nine point advantage.

Team: Caoimhe Meek, Rhiannon Quinn, Orla Coyle, Shauna Stevenson, Jessica Heagney, Shannon Stevenson, Roisin Devlin 2-1, Aoibheann McHugh, Eve Loughran, Caitlin Kelly 1-5, Niamh McCool, Tara Donaghy, Bronagh McKenna 1-0, Chloe McCafferty0-3
