Championship was the order of the week for most of the clubs in the county.
On Monday Dungannon hosted Derrylaughan in the under 14 semi-final where they got off to a great start and took a well-deserved lead early on.
In the second half Derrylaughan stemmed the flow somewhat but they could not prevent the home side progressing to the final. Dungannon will now face Eglish on Saturday 24th August at 11:00am at a venue yet to be decided. The final will be is a repeat of last year’s and the Feile final from earlier this year.
In the under 16 category Dungannon travelled to Edendork on Friday. This time it was the host team that proved the stronger on the day and they progressed with a convincing win. Edendork will play Eglish on September 9th in what must be one of the eagerly anticipated ties of the year with both teams possessing some excellent players.
The minor championship is in the preliminary round stage and it starts with last year’s finalist’s Dungannon and Derrylaughan who will battle it out for a place in the semi-final on September 6th. The match is scheduled for 6:45pm on Monday in Stewartstown.
The under 14 league will conclude on Tuesday evening as Dungannon travel to Carrickmore where a win for the visitors would wrap up the league for them. The match is at 7:00pm at Pairc Colmcille.
There will be another Go games Blitz this year hosted by Carrickmore. It will be for the u6, u8, and u10 age groups and will start at 2:30pm on Saturday 24thAugust in Pairc Colmcille. The co-ordinator is Bríd Uí Dhonnghaile and all clubs are asked to contact her and confirm their attendance and age groups participating.
The County under 14’s continue their training on Saturday mornings in Edendork. The team have home advantage on August 31st when they welcome Donegal to Garvaghey at 1:00pm for the Ulster shield semi-final. This age group in the County is very strong. It has always been the main focus for the team to go one better than last year’s side as they lost narrowly in the championship final to Cavan. Collective training is postponed this Saturday as many of the players are playing in the under 14 championship final.
Eglish seniors will play the winners of the Armagh championship on September 29th in their opening Ulster ties. This year’s Ulster senior B intermediate championship is a three way affair with the Down championship winners also vying for the Ulster title
In the Ulster Junior B championship Naomh Treasa will play the Cavan championship winners on September 22nd with the Dungannon side enjoying home advantage.
