The Ulster Intermediate club championship round robin tie between Eglish and Liatroim Fontenoys took place on Saturday evening. Eglish were going into the game with a win already under their belt as they had beaten Tullysaran in the first of two matches they would have to play to determine if they could make the Ulster final. This was Liatroim’s first match and a win for them would leave them on the same points as Eglish. The pitch was in perfect condition and the weather was more akin to a warm summer’s evening.
Eglish soon got into their stride but every ball was fiercely contested and the game had the intensity of a final. The scores were all well taken from both sides but Eglish just always had that little edge throughout the game. In the end they progressed to the final on October 27th as group winners with a well-deserved win with a score-line of Liatroim 0-14 to Eglish 2-11. Liatroim will have to play Tullysaran this week and the winners of that game will progress as runners up.
Dungannon played their Ulster semi-final of the Bridie McMenamin shield on Sunday in Edendork . It was only the club’s third match in Ulster competition and the young squad just fell short against a very experienced Clontibret side on a score-line of 1-13 to 2-2. The team has come a long way since their first match two years ago and they will be that bit stronger again next year. Dungannon Camogie Club would like to thank Edendork for the use of their pitch and their help with all the match details
The County Board meeting will be on Tuesday at 7:15pm in Quinn’s Corner. It is important that all clubs have at least two representatives at the meeting as important topics will be discussed that will affect clubs for 2014.
A huge congratulations to Eoghan Ruadh from Dungannon who progressed to the Ulster Club Intermediate hurling semi-final on Sunday with a convincing win against Na Magha of Derry on a score-line of 0-5 to 4:21 in the Owenbeg complex in Derry. They will play either an Antrim or Donegal side on Sunday 13thOctober.
