Tyrone qualified for three doubles finals in the All Ireland 40×20 championships with victories over Connacht in the semi finals last weekend.
Tyrone had six pairings representing Ulster in adult doubles semi final ties against Connacht and secured three good wins to make sure the county will be well represented in the big finals weekend in Kingscourt at the end of March.
Carrickmore pair Ryan Mullan and Caolan Daly have clicked really well at intermediate level and followed up their recent Ulster championship success with an impressive win over Mayo pair Ian McLaughlin and Niall Joyce in Carrickmore last Saturday. Ryan and Caolan will attempt to become only the second doubles team from Tyrone to capture the All Ireland intermediate doubles prize when they face Wexford in the decider.
Chris Curran and Finbarr Fullen are one step away from a possible All Ireland silver masters A doubles title, just a year after winning the silver masters b title. It would be a great achievement to win at the higher level now and they will be quietly confident against Offaly following their fine semi final win over Mayo in Loughmacrory last Sunday.
The Breacach mother/daughter combination of Michelle Warren and Michaela McCartan always do well as a team and they recorded an excellent win over Sligo in their All Ireland junior b doubles semi final to ensure that there will be three Tyrone pairings in with a chance of All Ireland glory on 27/28 March.
Unfortunately there was no joy for Breacach duo Niall Kerr and Shane O’Neill in their over 35 All Ireland doubles semi final against Mayo, while Seamus McCrory and Ruairi Grogan were denied victory by Galway in the All Ireland silver masters B semi final.
Caitlin Conway and Elizabeth Mcgarvey were forced to withdraw from their junior doubles semi final against Galway.
