Errigal Ciarán Ladies continued their unbeaten run in the Canavan’s Division 1 Senior Ladies League with a hard-fought victory over close neighbours Killeeshil at Cardinal MacRory Park.

The home side got off to the perfect start when Bronagh McAleer burst through the Killeeshil defence and rattled the net after just one minute of play.

Kelly McCaffrey quickly added a point before Maria Canavan found the back of the net from distance with only six minutes on the clock. Errigal’s final score of the half came through Mary Traynor on the ninth minute.

Killeeshil responded strongly and dominated the remainder of the opening period, hitting 1-6 without reply to leave themselves in front by the narrowest of margins at the break.

Errigal started the second half in blistering fashion. Just 32 seconds after the restart, Michaela Moore raced through on goal and calmly rolled the ball low to the net.

Mary Traynor, Maria Canavan and Ciara Quinn all added important points, while Kelly McCaffrey contributed two more scores to her tally.

The final score of the evening came from Ciara Quinn with just a minute remaining, sealing another excellent victory for the home side.

Trillick faced Coalisland in the latest round of the league and after a battling hour the Fianna girls emerged winners on a final score of 3-6 to 1-8. The foundations for the win were laid in the first half which saw Coalisland reach the break leading 2-4 to 0-5.
