Tyrone Camogie held their annual convention on Tuesday at the newly refurbished Quinn’s Corner. It was a very busy meeting and Pat Darcy was duly elected for another year as chairperson. It was great to see the majority of posts filled and there was a new Ulster Delegate this year Leona Gallagher taking up her position.
The various sub committees were agreed and in the coming weeks the preparations for next year’s season will already be well under way.
Ciaran Kearney from Ulster Council announced that Congress will be held in the Armagh City Hotel this year. It’s a huge undertaking for the Orchard County but one that it will relish. All clubs are reminded that the congress delegates have yet to be agreed and they should consider their nominations and also any motions they may have. The Annual Congress is quite an exciting and very important couple of days in which counties can have their say in the working of the internal mechanisms of the game.
Lisa McAliskey handed out the Ulster Council’s 5 year strategic plan launched earlier this year. A big thanks to Ulster Council for their help with our AGM.
There will be a Level One Coaching Course organised by Tyrone Camogie and run by the Ulster Council in the New Year. This will be a follow on from the Foundation Course held at the start of the year. All clubs should make this a priority for any of their coaches as it will benefit not only the coach but also their club. There will be a fee which is to be finalised at a later stage. All interested coaches should contact their club secretary. For those coaches who were unable to avail of last year’s course Derrylaughan will be hosting a Foundation Coaching Course shortly in conjunction with the Ulster Council. The cost of this will be £25 and anyone who is interested is asked to contact Bronagh Carney from Derrylaughan before 12th December.
The county pub quiz in McAleer’s Bar was a huge success with the majority of the clubs in the county taking part. There will be another quiz night in mid-January and all county senior players are reminded that its proceeds are going towards county senior funds. This quiz will also be in McAleer’s at 6:00pm and the date will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
We wish all the players involved in the Colleges All Stars trials all the best of luck on Tuesday from 10:30am at the MUSA complex in Cookstown.
