There were no Senior National League fixtures last week but on Tuesday the Tyrone minors will face Armagh in the championship shield final. It is the last chance to take honours for the minors who were ravaged with injuries in past matches but will be at full strength for the final game of this campaign. Good luck to the management from all at Tyrone Camogie in what will be a tough encounter to break down their strong Armagh opponents.
The Tyrone Senior team has continued their pursuit for honours and are training twice weekly. They have trained hard and the fitness of the team is inching closer to what the management needs to compete in the championship matches later in the year. The team will have their first match against Dublin at the end of June. They will also have a very long journey to Wicklow on Easter Sunday in their last All Ireland League Division 4 match and a win is a must if they are to make the play-offs. The good news is that the injuries sustained by major players of the squad are in the process of recovery and all should be fit for the Easter clash.
It’s a big week for the clubs in Tyrone as the league gets under way for all age groups in the county. The Post Primary league and championship will have Father Shields of Greencastle taking part and we welcome and hope their young team perform well in what will be a strong competition this year. Edendork have entered the Senior competition format and it’s a positive sign for Camogie in Tyrone as it takes the senior league teams to eight. Everyone wishes them success in the league and championship fixtures in this coming year.
All clubs are reminded of the fundraiser on April 14th when the county will all come together to walk up Croagh Patrick. It’s a great opportunity for the clubs to raise vital funds for their club and county and it promises to be a fun day out with all the clubs sending representatives to take part.
Congratulations to Tyrone Senior player Cara Fitzgerald who played for an All Star select Ulster squad last week.
