DILLON REACTION TO ULSTER LOSS
Tyrone senior manager Martina Dillon meanwhile says that Tyrone are not finished yet after her side were well beaten by Monaghan on Sunday in the Ulster senior final. Tyrone were in touch with the Ulster champions for the best part of forty five minutes but could not live with them in the final quarter. Constant running at Tyrone by Kindlon, Mohan and McAnespie bore fruit as Monaghan eased to a more than comfortable victory at Tyrone’s expense.
Dillon was disappointed at the final whistle but there was a steely determination about her and an air of defiance too.
” Yes we were well beaten there but we had stayed with them for forty five minutes or so, they pulled away ten and it’s hard for players when they are losing like that. Monaghan were good but there’s no way we were seventeen or eighteen points worse than them, you have not seen the last of this Tyrone team”
It was tough going for Tyrone at Clones but it would have been difficult for any team to live with Greg Mc Gonigle’s side on the day. Everything, admitted Dillon, went in their favour,
“It felt like Monaghan just had the perfect day, everything they touched or tried went right. They took the opportunities and their defence were super. We just have to get back on track, it will have hurt our girls there and they will be back at training keen to right those wrongs. I am still happy with the thirty girls we have, they all can do a job for us and I know they will”
The Tyrone seniors will join the all Ireland qualifiers now with the draw set to be made at the end of the month.
