Ladies Junior League Play-Off
An Mhaigh 1-12 Galbally 0-8
An Mhaigh senior ladies footballers have qualified for the semi-finals of this year’s Junior League after coming from behind to defeat Galbally by seven points in a vital play-off match at Páirc Thír na nÓg, on Saturday evening past.
Played in very warm and balmy conditions, the Moy cailíní found the going tough in the first half. Galbally opened the scoring with a point and remained in front until the half-time break, despite some brilliant tackles by the Moy defence.
A number of outstanding blocks from Anna McDonald helped keep An Mhaigh in close contention while Caoimhe Magee dominated the midfield exchanges and made some excellent cross-field kick passes. Up front, the sky blues missed some crucial chances but also registered a number of excellent scores to trail by just two points at the interval.
Half-Time Score:
An Mhaigh 0-6
Galbally 0-8
It was a much more determined Moy side that took to the field for the second half, winning kick-outs and kicking some fantastic scores from play. An Mhaigh’s defence was constantly out in front, eager to get to the ball first, and great skill shown by the likes of Ellen Mackle typified the play of the back-line.
The Moy forwards benefitted greatly from some direct passing and they began to take control with effective attacking play. Terrific movement, in particular from Lucy McAlary and Catherine Donnelly, made for some wonderful passages of football.
Emer Currie was on target often, taking her chances at every opportunity. A save from the Galbally keeper also allowed Shona Jordan to get her hand to the ball from the rebound and palm it to the back of the net. The Tír na nÓgs showed serious grit and desire during those final thirty plus minutes and succeeded in holding Galbally scoreless for the entire second half.

An Mhaigh 1-12
Galbally 0-8

Coalisland 3-9 Clonoe 2-11
A late goal sealed the points for Coalisland putting them on top of the league section after a pulsating game against great rivals Clonoe.
However the Rahilly’s can count themselves unfortunate to not get at least a share of the spoils at Fr Peter Campbell Park.

Coalisland then dominated the rest of the half with goals from Sarah Duggan and Nicole Murphy and two points from Murphy and points apiece from Caelainn O’Donnell, Eadaoin Early, Laura McNally and Caoimhe Coyle to lead by five points at the interval.
Clonoe came out like a team rejuvenated and led by three points in the closing minutes by which time Coalisland had only scored one point in the second half from the boot of Nicole Murphy.
