Sperrin Og have defeated Claregalway 3-3 to 1-7 to secure a place in this years All Ireland Junior Ladies Championship final.  The Greencastle girls only scored a single point in the second half but they managed to hold on in spite of long periods of pressure.  Maggie Gallagher was outstanding for the Greencastle girls at full back.  They now have an opportunity to match the men’s achievement of becoming Junior All Ireland Champions.
The foundations for their victory were laid in the opening thirty minutes when they hit three goals. Rising star Niamh O’Neill bagged two for her team while corner forward Kim Mc Cullagh scored the other. However it was during a real grandstand final ten minutes where the character of the Sperrin Og team shone through. They thwarted Claregalway at every turn and even though the Connacht champions had reduced the lead to two points by the end and were playing with a strong breeze they failed to overturn the deficit as Laura Lee Mc Cullagh, Eimear Teague, Laura Heagney and Margaret Gallagher produced heroics at the back to ensure their team made it through to the November 20th decider and a date with destiny.

Half time in Greencastle and Sperrin Og look set for an All Ireland Final.  They lead 3-2 to 0-2 thanks to two goals from Naomh O’Neill and a further goal from Kim McCullagh.
