Dromore Lift Under 21 Title

Niall Sludden and Darren Mc Curry exchange points but Edendork have to settle for the runners’ up position as Dromore lift the Grade One Under 21 title on a final score of 1-11 to 1-6.

As the game enters the last few minutes Dromore improve their position with scores from Sean Mc Nabb and Aaron Mc Nulty and with time running out Edendork need something special to turn this one around.

Dromore respond well and star player Niall Sludden leads the way with two fine points. Niall Slevin also gets his name on the scoresheet with his first point of the day. This score puts Dromore 1-8 to 1-5 in front with six minutes left on the clock.

Midway through the second half and the sides are level 1-5 apiece. Aaron Mc Nulty and Jack Poyntz put their side three ahead but a goal from Eoin Maneely levelled the scoring just as we enter the last quarter of the game.

Five minutes into the second half and Edendork have closed the gap to a single point. A super long range free into the wind from Niall Morgan is followed up by a further free from the boot of Darren Mc Curry to leave the score 1-3 to 0-5 in favour of Dromore.

Aaron Mc Nulty finally found the target for Dromore to open their account but Darren Mc Curry struck for a super point to leave the score 0-3 to 0-1 to Edendork twenty three minutes in. Dromore then hit something of a purple patch with Collie Mc Rory getting a goal followed by minors from Niall Sludden and Jack Poyntz to leave Dromore 1-3 to 0-3 in front at the break.

Twenty minutes gone and the standard of fare has not improved too much. Darren Mc Curry has knocked over his side’s second point to leave them 0-2 to no score in front. Dromore have still to register their first score and have just hit their sixth wide of the first half.

Ten minutes gone at Dunmoyle and Edendork lead 0-1 to no score following a point from midfielder Stephen Gervan. Dromore have enjoyed plenty of possession but have only four wides to show for their endeavours. will be bringing live updates from this afternoon’s Grade One Under 21 final between Edendork and Dromore. Both sides have plenty of talent on offer with Darren Mc Curry and Harry Og Conlon leading the charge for Edendork while Thomas Mc Carron and Niall Sludden could well be the men to inspire the St Dympnas challenge.
