Tyrone Lift 22nd Ulster Minor Championship

The doom and gloom has lasted less than 24 hours.  Tyrone minors are the 2012 Ulster Minor Football Champions following a three point win over Monaghan.  That’s Tyrone’s 22nd Ulster Minor Championship.  Final Score : Tyrone 0-14 Monaghan 1-8

58 min – Hughes thumps over a point for Monaghan.  Tyrone’s lead is reduced to three.  Tyrone 0-14 Monaghan 1-8

Padraig Hampsey clears the Tyrone defence again.  The Coalisland man has been hugely commanding in the Tyrone full back line.

54 min – Tyrone ease four points clear with a point from James McGahan.  McGahan is then replaced as manager Mickey Donnelly throws on Ruairi Mc Gloin.  Tyrone 0-14 Monaghan 1-7

49 min – Mark Bradley picks up his second point after some excellent work from Ciaran Mc Geary.  Tyrone 0-13 Monaghan 1-7

48 min – Tyrone now two up.  Short free from Mc Geary finds Michael Cassidy who slots the point.

47 min – Simple free for James McGahan following a brilliant run by Sean Hackett.  Should have been a penalty!  Disappointing decision from the referee.  Tyrone 0-11 Monaghan 1-7

Desmond Ward replaces Fergal McGeogh on the Monaghan team.

44 min – Brilliant work from Caolan Harvey results in a chance for Mark Bradley and he nips in and kicks a point.  Level again.   Tyrone 0-10 Monaghan 1-7

Fergal McMahon replaces Adam Trainor for Monaghan as Danny McNulty wearing 19 replaces left half back Peter McKenna.

38 min – Ryan McAnespie from the Tyrone/Monaghan border kicks a point for Monaghan and the Farney county are back in front.  Tyrone 0-9 Monaghan 1-7

37 min – Mc Geary cooly kicks a nice point for Tyrone to ease the pressure and level the game.  Tyrone 0-9 Monaghan 1-6

32 min – Keenan slots a free for Monaghan and Tyrone are chasing the game now.  Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 1-6

31 min – Monaghan are level through McCarthy from play.  Poor start to the second half for Tyrone.  Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 1-5

Second half up and running.

Half Time in Clones and Tyrone lead by a single point.  Monaghan really putting it up to Tyrone this afternoon.  All to play for after the break.

32 min – Conor Mallon gives away a soft free and Ryan Keenan from Monaghan kicks the point from just inside the D.  Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 1-4

28 min – Sean Hackett misses a fairly straightforward free.  So the lead remains at two points.  Michael Cassidy from Ardboe replaces Cormac O’Neill at centre half forward.

26 min – GOAL for Monaghan.  Conor McCarthy counter attacks for Monaghan.  His initial shot hit the woodwork but he followed up and the result is the ball in the Tyrone net.  Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 1-3

23 min – Brilliant goal chance for Monaghan but some great work by the excellent Ruari Mullan saves the day for Tyrone.

21 min – Cookstown man James McGahan fires over his first point of the day.  Tyrone 0-8 Monaghan 0-3

19 min – Tyrone are now four up.  Sean Hackett clips one over from 40 metres.  The wind and rain are really beginning to take a grip on the game.

18 min – Corner back Caolan Harvey make a run forward collects a ball from Sean Hackett and fists the ball over the bar.  Tyrone 0-6 Monaghan 0-3

15 min – Peter McKenna launches a huge ball in and over the bar after a poor Monaghan clearance and the Red Hands in the red jerseys are two points ahead.  Tyrone 0-5 Monaghan 0-3

13 min – Brilliant individual effort from Sean Hackett.  Tyrone now lead 0-4 to 0-3

12 min – Anthony Devlin and Ciaran McGeary points for Tyrone and the scores are level at three each.  Tyrone need to push on from here.

10 min – Padraig Keenan kicks a third point for Monaghan from a free.  Monaghan employing the blanket defence with great effect.

5 min – McElroy kicks a point from open play after a poor clearance from Padraig Hampsey.  Sean Hackett responds for Tyrone almost immediately.  That will help that somewhat nervous looking Tyrone lads.  Tyrone 0-1 Monaghan 0-2

4 min – Ruairi Mullan from Cookstown picks up a tick and Conor McCarthy from Monaghan slots the free.  Tyrone 0-0 Monaghan 0-1

Game on and Tyrone are playing towards the Roslea Road end of the field.

The big news from Clones is that Danny McNulty has been included on the substitutes bench.  There had been word that he was going to be dropped from the panel completely following a missed training session last weekend. are in position in Clones to bring you all of the very latest news from this afternoons Ulster Minor Championship final between Tyrone and Monaghan. It’s overcast here in Clones this morning and quite breezy.

The Ulster Council have installed a big screen towards the town end of the field which will hopefully be filled with plenty of Tyrone scores as the afternoon goes on. Keep up to date with all of the goings on right here on
