Loreto Omagh Win Ladies Under 16 Title.
Tuesday 06.03.2012

The Loreto Convent in Omagh are celebrating further success on the football pitch following this afternoon’s victory in the Ulster Under 16 Championship Final. Loreto ran out comfortable 2-12 to 1-5 winners in the end over St Ciaran’s Ballygawley at Healy Park after being only three points ahead at the break. Having played against a very strong breeze in the first half the Omagh girls led 1-5 to 0-5 with their goal coming from top scorer on the day Niamh Browne.
Niamh O’Neill and Ellen Mc Cullagh produced two top class performances for the winners with O’Neill picking up the player of the game award. The second half saw Omagh dominate the game as they restricted St Ciaran’s to a solitary score in the second half a late penalty goal. Loreto coped well with the difficult conditions to add 1-7 to their first half total with Niamh Browne (2-1), Niamh O’Neill (0-3), Siobhan Sheerin (0-3) and Niamh Mc Girr (0-3) all on target for the winners.
Omagh can now look forward to an All Ireland Semi Final against Connacht opposition with that game down for decision on Friday 16th of March.
