Loughmacrory 2-15 v Aghyaran 1-7 venue; Dromore ref; Brian McCallion

Aghyaran had one of those days they would probably much rather forget as they found scoring extremely difficult against a resolute Loughmacrory side for whom Lisa Mc Aleer and Oonagh Gallagher were outstanding. McAleer hit an impressive 4pts in the 1st half while Oonagh Gallagher was a constant thorn in Aghyaran’s side with as she linked the play between defence and attack throughout the game. Aghyaran had to work hard to get their 5pts in the first half with four of them coming from Nicola McMenamin while the other point came courtesy of Lucy McMenamin. The score at half time read Loughmacrory 1-8, Aghyaran’s 0-5.
The second half saw Aghyaran enjoy much more of the play but try as they might they just could not turn their possession into scores. Loughmacrory were awarded a penalty which was slotted to the net calmly by Kerri Grimes. Aghyaran lifted themselves in spite of conceding that goal and they were rewarded for their endeavours when Nicola McMenamin found the net. Aghyaran looked set for a comeback when they were awarded a penalty only for Kellie Meehan to put the ball narrowly wide. The North Tyrone girls continued to press but found scores hard to come by while Kerri Grimes with 1-3 and Lisa McAleer with 5pts top scored for the winners.
