Loughmacrory Win Double
Saturday 30.08.2025
Loughmacrory completed a deserved league and championship minor double when they defeated Cappagh in the Grade Two league final on Saturday at Beragh. Two early first half goals when playing into the wind gave them the perfect start and enabled them to go in at the break leading 2-1 to 0-5.
Cappagh worked hard to get themselves back into the contest after the break and when Cormac Cunningham hit the net with thirteen minutes remaining they gave themselves every chance of staging a comeback. However the Loch defence snapped shut with Player of the Match Michael Gallagher and Ciaran Mc Crystal leading the line making sure that there would be no further concessions.

Seven minutes into the contest and Cappagh were caught flat footed when corner forward Caolan Grimes stole in to finish to the net. Cappagh took a while to respond but a well struck kick from Caolan Mc Kinney finally opened their account. Unfortunately two minutes later and Loch hit the net for a second time when Michael Gallagher slalomed through the Cappagh defence to finish to the net for his team’s second goal. Cappagh rallied with four points in a row from Thomas Meenan but it was Loch centre back Gallagher who had the final score of the half to leave the score at the break 2-1 to 0-5 in favour of Loughmacrory.
The second half was close and competitive but in spite of an increased work rate Cappagh could not get the scores they needed to really put the pressure on. Pearse Mc Donald and Caolan Grimes kicked the scores that kept the game honest and a last minute goal from Grimes secured the win and completed tht double on a final score of Lough 3-11, Cappagh 1-8.
