Macartans Defeat Carrickmore Plus Latest Ladies News

St Macartans enjoyed a comprehensive 3-10 to 0-06 win over their great rivals Carrickmore on Sunday. The Clogher Valley girls began well and were six points up inside seven minutes with scores from Mary Louise Mc Girr, Joline Donnelly (0-2) and Cathy Donnelly (0-3). They extended that lead shortly after when Mary Louise Mc Girr got her side’s first goal of the night on fifteen minutes.
Uncharacteristically Carrickmore were struggling for scores but Gemma Begley finally broke their duck on twenty two minutes and by the time the whistle sounded for half time the score line read Macartans 1-9, Carrickmore 0-02.
The second half continued in much the same manner as the first as St Macartans built on their first half dominance. They added two further goals through Paula Donnelly and Niamh Mc Girr which sandwiched points from Claire Gallagher, Lynnette Hughes and Gemma Begley to finish deserving winners on the night.
