Macartans put their championship clash with Glenelly on Thursday evening to bed with a dominant first half display that saw Chloe Mc Caffrey hit three goals and Joline Donnelly a fine brace as they reached the break leading 5-7 to no score.

Glenelly struggled to get the ball out of their defence for most of the first half as Macartans speed and use of the ball created numerous chances. Mc Caffrey and the Donnelly girls virtually owned the ball at times while their high pressing game meant that Glenelly managed only one shot on target during the first half.

Things improved for the North Tyrone girls after the break as Michaela Morris, Roma O’Hagan, Aisling O’Kane and Maria O’Hagan took the game to their more illustrious opponents. A converted penalty from Aisling O’Kane two minutes into the second half gave them hope but they failed to breach the Macartans rearguard again until injury time when they hit four unanswered points to leave the final score Macartans 5-11, Glenelly 1-4.
