Holy Trinity Cookstown bowed out of this year’s Danske Bank MacRory Cup when they lost a low scoring affair against St.Pats Maghera at The Loup on Tuesday evening. Played before a large crowd it proved to be a disappointing spectacle with both sides deploying a lot of bodies behind the ball.

Shea Quinn opened the scoring but that was the only time that Holy Trinity would lead during the game. A brace from the superb Sean Kearney and one from defender Lee Brady edged the winners two in front before Niall Devlin had the final say of the low scoring first half to leave it 0-3 to 0-2 at the interval.

A Mark Devlin free levelled matters but in the 38th minute Kearney fired to the net after collecting a pin point pass from Ethan Doherty. Callan Devlin and Mark Devlin helped close the gap to the minimum but Holy Trinity couldn’t get on level terms. Kearney, PJ McAleese and Matthew Downey all registered for Maghera with a Mark Devlin free the sole reply for Holy Trinity. Devlin converted a third free but that proved to be the last score of the game as St.Pats Maghera won on a 1-6 to 0-7 scoreline to set up a semi final date with St.Patricks Academy Dungannon.
