Saturday 20.07.2024

Masters Football: Tyrone v Cavan in Carrickmore.
Tyrone raced into a three point lead with early frees from Mark Donnelly and Leo Meenan followed by a Michael Anderson point from play before Cavan responded with a free off the boot of their full forward.
Further points from Donnelly, Meenan, Conor Gormley and Barry Daly left Tyrone in a comfortable position. Cavan hit 2 more frees before Leo Meenan unleashed a screamer to the top corner of the Cavan net followed by an Anderson point and two more from M Donnelly left Tyrone leading by eleven at half time.

The second half started with the same intensity and Tyrone opened their account with a goal from Donnelly and points from Marty Mc Grath and Damien Kelly. Barry Daly weighed in with a well taken goal before Cavan registered another point. Niall Gormley was next on the scoresheet with a trademark point and did the same again sandwiched between a Cavan point from play.
Tyrone hit a further goal from the penalty spot courtesy of that man Niall Gormley again after Donal Mc Anallen was upended in the square. Tyrone’s scoring was completed by Peter O’Kane before Cavan put a further two points on the board before the ref called time on what was a solid team performance from the Tyrone Masters panel in their last qualifier of the championship. They now await the outcome of next week’s games to see who is next in their quest to qualify for the semi finals of the Dr.Mick Loftus Cup.
