Tyrone travelled to Lacken Cavan on Saturday to play rivals Dublin in a must win game to stay in the race for the Mick Loftus Cup.

Th Red Hands opened the scoring with a Michael Anderson free followed by a Shane Mc Cann point coming forward from his wing back position.Barry Collins got Tyrone’s third point with a neat finish.

After a cagey start from both teams it has to be said and Dublin got back in the game with two points one from Mark Vaughan.Tyrone responded with a mark Donnelly free but Dublin replied with a fine point from play and Anderson finished the half with another point to leave Tyrone leading by two at the break.

Tyrone’s defence found themselves working hard resisting numerous Dublin attacks and giving their forward unit great impetus to go on the front foot. The workrate of the team was excellent and they were well placed going into the second half.

Full forward Anderson hit two points at the start of the second half sandwiched between a Vaughan free before Bernard Brogan tapped over another Dublin score.

Tyrone upped the pace and got on top again with three unanswered points from Donnelly, Conor Gormley, who was immense throughout the tie,  and Damian Kelly. Brogan replied with a pointed free but time and again the Tyrone defence thwarted the Dublin attack to set up some fantastic counter attacks and Martin Taggart clipped over a neat score from a great move starting in Tyrone’s defence.

Mc Cann popped up again with another score from deep and another Anderson free rounded off the  scoring for an impressive Tyrone team performance to give them momentum going into their last qualifying game against Antrim.
