MASTERS | Masters International Rules 2016 Ireland V Australia
Saturday 24.09.2016
Up until 2008 players involved in the Gaelic Masters competition (Over40’s) tried out for an All Ireland team to play their counterparts from Australia in a Masters’ International Rules series. This practice ended with the GAA decision to distance itself from the Masters in 2010. With the formation of the Gaelic Masters Association and the ever increasing profile of masters’ football it has been decided to reintroduce the Masters International Rules series. This year Australia will visit Ireland to play the home team in a 2 game series in October. Trials are now at an advanced stage and an Irish panel will soon be announced. As always with events like these finance is a factor. The Gaelic Masters Association receives no money from the GAA. The following link provides the opportunity for supporters of the Gaelic Masters to contribute to the Gaelic Masters International Rules Series.
The following players from Tyrone are currently still in the hunt for panel places. Damien Gormley (Trillick), Conor Daly (Trillick), Gavan Mc Elroy (Carrickmore), Kevin Gormley (Carrickmore) Mark Gallagher (Eglish), John Mc Kenna (Donaghmore), Barry Bleeks (Stewartsown)
