Mc Girr Bros Quarries Div Three Wrap Up
Friday 16.08.2024
The three remaining Junior league games saw wins for Errigal Ciaran over Tattyreagh and Killeeshil over Donaghmore Thirds while the game between Brocagh and Derrytresk ended in a draw.
Errigal found themselves facing an understrength Tattyreagh side and cruised to victory. Davy Harte continued to prove his worth to the team with six points while Cahir Tierney (1-0) and Connor Mc Aleer (1-1) both found the net. Dasher Mc Dermott and Kevin Hughes each fired over a brace of points in what was a facile 2-15 to 0-4 victory. Tattyreagh scorers on the night were Keelan Mc Donagh (3) and Luke Devlin.
Killeeshil put Donaghmore to the sword on a score line of 6-15 to 0-7. This was Tomas Hoy’s first start in quite a while since returning from injury and it looked like he was making up for lost time. The diminutive forward finished with 3-5 as the hoops brushed aside the challenge of the Village lads. Killeeshil led at the break 4-11 to 0-0 and cantered to victory with their other goals coming from Packie Mc Mullan, Dara Loughran and Mark Donnelly. Among the points for the winners were Dillon O’Neill, Michael O’Neill and Gary Reilly who each hit 0-2.
Brackaville showed considerable resolve to come back from being five points down at half time against Derrytresk to salvage a draw with a late equalising point. Derrytresk might feel they let this one slip after reaching the break leading 1-5 to 0-3 and being one in front so late in the game.
Brackaville scorers on the night were Ciaran Gervin, Ronan Mc Hugh (0-3), Gary Ferguson (0-4), Rian Mc Hugh (0-2), Ryan Bell, Shea Fee, Oisin Brady and Daire Carberry who got the all important goal early in the second half.
