There were two division three matches played ahead of a full programme of fixtures this weekend. On Wednesday night there was  a SouthTyrone Derby between Aghaloo and Augher while Thursday night saw Drumquin entertain Brackaville. Wednesday night’s fixture was won by Aghaloo after a tight and competitive encounter while the impressive Drumquin also maintained their winning run with a 1-14 to 0-5 victory over the East Tyrone side.

Augher took to the field minus the scoring threat of Darragh Kavanagh after the diminutive forward suffered a hamstring injury last weekend. Considering the scoring contribution Kavanagh makes to his side one can understand why Aghaloo were so highly fancied to win comfortably.

As it was it took a late Aghaloo goal from Rory Mc Glone to win the game for the O’Neills on a score line of 1-11 to 0-9.

Augher began well and points from Declan Connolly, Raymond Mc Elroy and Tiernan Mc Elroy had them two in front after nine minutes. Aghaloo steadied the ship and by half time they had established a 0-7 to 0-5 lead. With defences on top there was little between the sides until the late goal secured the win and took the points.

Aghaloo scorers: Jody Mc Glone 0-1,  Ruairi Mc Glone 1-2, Tiernan Donnelly 0-3,  Gary O’Gorman 0-2, Dylan Mullan, Niall Mc Elroy and Paudie Mc Geary 0-1 each

Augher scorers: Declan Connolly 0-3, Raymond Mc Elroy 0-1, Tiernan Mc Elroy 0-3, Eoghan Keenan 0-1, Finbarr Mc Elroy 0-1.

The Thursday night game saw unbeaten Drumquin see off the challenge of a shot shy Brackaville side who have struggled for scores of late. With home advantage many fancied the Roes to put it up to Drumquin but unfortunately for the Roes that wasn’t to be. Sean Mc Donagh  (1-5) has certainly found the range finishing top scorer for his club this week again as the Tones made light of the long run to Brackaville to claim the points. Oisin Gormley (3), Oisin Mc Menamin (3), Finnen Patterson (2) and Frankie Mc Alynn completed the scoring for Drumquin who now sit at the top of Division Three of the All County League.
