Mc Girr Bros Quarries Division Three Latest
Wednesday 24.07.2024
Tuesday evening saw two fixtures in Division Three of the Tyrone ACL. Two north Tyrone sides found themselves on the road early as Augher entertained Glenelly while Drumquin made the long trek to Brocagh. The games resulted in wins for Glenelly, 2-22 to 2-9, and Drumquin on a final score of 3-15 to 0-11.
Glenelly, who have been struggling lately, came up against an improving Augher side who were expected to give Roger Keenan’s side a real run for their money. However this game was effectively over by the break as Glenelly produced an impressive opening half to reach the break leading 2-15 to 1-3. Tiarnan Mc Elroy hit 1-1 for Augher during the first half while Darragh Kavanagh and Niall Mc Caughey both added points.
The second half saw some improvement for the home side but the damage had been done during that first period and there was no coming back for them. Eoghan Keenan did hit the net not long after the restart but that was as good as it got for Augher and Glenelly cantered to an easy win. Their remaining second hand scores came from Tiernan Mc Elroy, Darragh Kavanagh, Finbarr Mc Elroy, Ronan Mc Elroy and Ben Traynor.
On a good night for Glenelly Ronan O’Kane (1-3) and Aodhan Mc Connell (0-6) were joint top scorers while the remaining scores were as follows: Lorcan Mc Cullagh (0-4), Cormac Mc Keown (1-0), Cathal O’Neill (0-3), Cormac Mc Bride (0-3), and a point apiece for Rory Kennedy, Nathan Mc Laughlin and Garrett O’Neill.
Meanwhile Drumquin show no sign of letting up on their pursuit of Aghaloo at the top of the table as they enjoyed an emphatic win away to Brocagh on a score line of 3-14 to 0-11. Once again Oisin Gormley showed his worth to the Tones top scoring with 1-5 while Oisin Mc Menamin (1-2) and Sean Mc Donagh (1-1) also hit the net. Frankie Mc Alynn (2), Finucane Glackin (1), Cormac Donnelly (1) and Stephen Gormley completed the Drumquin scoring. Drumquin were quickly out of the blocks and led 2-9 to 0-5 at the break. The home side did improve after the break but there was no stopping Drumquin as they continued their fine run of form in the quest for a league title. Brocagh’s scores came courtesy of James Mc Kiver (0-2), Conan Mc Donald (0-1), Mickey Hughes (0-4), Cathal Donnelly (0-2), Brandon Mc Kiver (0-1) and Niall Mc Closkey (0-1).
