Errigal Thirds travelled to Derrytresk on Thursday evening for their most recent Junior League clash and got off to a good start with an early score off the boot of Davy Harte. Derrytresk kept tabs on Errigal for the first quarter of the game before Ruairi O Sullivan rattled the net on the 17th minute to give the visitors a narrow two point lead at the time.

Moments later an outrageous outside of the left boot from Darren Carson just behind the forty five with the help of the very strong breeze sailed between the sticks. Errigal kept firm control of the first half restricting their hosts to just three points.

Errigal’s star man Harte added another two points this time from play to help them take a firm lead of 1-6 0-3 at the break.

Unfortunately the weather conditions worsened during the break and both teams struggled to come to terms with the change and taking scores became increasingly difficult. It was thirteen minutes into the second half before a score was registered from the boot of O’Sullivan. Colm Mellon pointed to extend the lead  before Derrytresk, with Cathal O’Neill to the fore, added five unanswered points. Fortunately from an Errigal point of view Donaghy and McAleer landed scores that would see the visitors over the line. Derrytresk scorers were Cathal O’’Neill 0-5, Eoin Rea 0-2 and a point each from Caolan O’Donnell, Ultan Mc Kee and Darragh Mc Cann.

In Thursday night’s other Division Three game CNG saw off the challenge of Donaghmore Thirds with a 2-10 to 0-10 win having been 2-3 to 0-5 ahead at the break. An early goal from Padraig Kerlin gave CNG  a lead they held for the full game. A penalty goal and two points from Shea Browne saw Clann take a 4 point lead into the break. Clann managed to keep Donaghmore at arms’ length throughout the second half with additional points from Shea Browne , Stephen O’Neill 2, Ciaran Kerlin, Terry McCaughey, Padraig Kerlin & Niall Kerlin . Donaghmore scores on the night came from Sean Mc Caul 0-6, Rory Mc Gee 0-1, Chris Hughes 0-1 and Ryan Mc Laughlin 0-2.

Full time: CNG 2.1o.  Donaghmore 0.10
