Away from the field of play but closely associated with it was the Ulster Writer’s Monthly Award which was again won by a Tyrone player. County minor star and man of the match in The All Ireland Final John Mc Cullagh picked up the award for September following his tremendous display in that nail biting but impressive win over Cork on the nineteenth of the month. John’s team mate and close friend Ronan O’Neill had picked up The Writers’ award for the previous month and it was a fitting tribute to the telepathic understanding they have developed throughout the year that the Greencastle lad also received due recognition from the GAA Writers. It sure has been a busy and highly successful few weeks for the flame haired attacker and he will be hoping to round it all off with ensuring that he and his Greencastle team mates secure their final two points of the season against Killyclogher to guarantee that they remain in senior football for 2011.
