Tyrone’s attacking options have been reduced with the news that Darren McCurry has quit the panel. The Edendork clubman informed manager Mickey Harte of his decision on Monday citing work commitments as the reason.

“We have a lot of work in North Antrim at the moment and I was finding it difficult to train three or four nights a week,” said Darren.

“That is the level of commitment that you have to give to County football and I feel that I’m not in the position to do that at the moment. I will concentrate with the club for the season ahead and I will review my situation after that.”

McCurry played a key role as Tyrone secured back to back Ulster senior titles in 2016 and 2017. He came on as a late substitute for Mark Bradley last Saturday night in their crucial league win over neighbours Donegal and he has featured in thirteen of the seventeen games that Tyrone played in 2017 and 2018 so far. He first came to prominence on the County scene as a member of the last Tyrone side to win an All-Ireland minor title in 2010.
