There was much speculation about who would take over as the Tyrone County team’s replacement keeper following the injury to Niall Morgan. While it was confirmed that the keeper’s knee problem was not as serious as first feared the fact that he will be out of action for most of the rest of the year meant that team manager Mickey Harte had to seek cover for Pascal Mc Connell.

Members of the county management team were in Healy Park on Monday night for the Division One clash between Omagh and Clonoe. Mickey Harte has opted for Clonoe stopper Mickey O’Neill as the man to fill the role of understudy to the experienced Mc Connell. O’Neill has been around the edges of the Tyrone set up in the past and is a goalkeeper who has shown himself to be very capable between the sticks.

While the manager may have sorted out his goalkeeping issue it appears his injury problems are continuing to mount. Omagh St Endas player Joe Mc Mahon was forced to leave the field last night three minutes into their game with Clonoe. The big utility man suffered an ankle injury and could well be a doubt for Tyrone’s qualifier game with Offaly at the end of the month.
