Minor Championship Quarter Finals Wrap Up

The minor championship took centre stage on Wednesday evening with quarter final action in all four grades. Eglish defeated Moortown 2-17 to 1-8 with Conor McKenna outstanding at centre half forward for the winners with midfielder Enda McElroy and full back Sean Muldoon also playing well. Ryan Kelly [4], Connell McVey [3] and Daire Quinn [1-1] were the Moortown scorers on the night with Darragh McVey and Adam McCormack also playing well.

Fintona got the better of Derrylaughan in a high scoring encounter, 2-16 to 2-11. Thomas McGrath top scored for the Pearses with an impressive ten points to his name with Owen Mallon and Ryan McCarney getting their goals and Cillian McCann, Sonny McDonagh, Nathan Dean, Tony Donnelly and Ryan Donnelly getting their names on the score sheet as well. Stephen McGrath hit 1-6 for the Kevin Barrys, Conor McCabe notched 1-1 and Jack Ryan and Matty O’Neill also played well.

Errigal Ciaran knocked out holders Naomh Mhuire on a 2-11 to 1-7 score line. Padraig McGirr and Paudge McAnenly got the goals for the winners with Mark Kavanagh [5], Ben McDonald [2], Niall Kelly, Sean McKenna, Pascal Donnelly and Paddy O’Neill getting their scores. Pomeroy made the short trip to Kildress and they came away from Gortacladdy with a narrow win. Sean Doran [1-1], Anthony Girvan [2], Marty Kennedy [2], Kieran McGeary [2] and Damian Woods got their scores as it finished 1-8 to 0-10. Best for the Plunketts were Anthony McKenna, Jack Devlin, Ryan Begley and man of the match Sean Doran. Trillick defeated local rivals Dromore 2-12 to 1-5 with Lee Brennan [1-2], Daire Gallagher [5], Stephen O’Donnell [2], Conor Smyth [1], Rory Brennan [1], Keelan Kelly [1] and a wonder goal from substitute Kevin McCann the players on target for the St.Macartans.
